The “Street Romance” are the artists and works that converse the present of our past, without nostalgia, through the manipulation of the materials they use as raw material: soil, wool, reeds, fabrics, marble, straw, threads and needles, looms.

In the context of the pandemic, the global confinement and the atmosphere of the threat of death, we try to we escape thoughts and dreams. We wander in an Athens without people, on the paths of Lycabettus, the Roman Agora, Anafiotika, beautifully abandoned by passers-by.

The different sense of time, the thread of history and the cracks, social, economic, ideological. The manipulations of art in the condition of the world market and us, in its first decades 21 century, we listen to the ancient streets.

Roads today, roads 35 of centuries . Panathinaion Street, Tripodon, Leokori, Dipylou, Romance. A passage to Piraeus, Elefsina, to the outskirts of the city, from the Iria Gates or the Holy Road. Here, citizens and slaves walk and talk, as well as animals and carriages that carry daily food and clothing, the products of trade that will be stored in ports until they are at sea.

A moment in time that creates the need to re-approach what we call the collective memory of the group, the myth of origin that is passed down through genealogies. Art, as always, accompanies and sometimes dares looking for new ways through the conflicting atmosphere, in the issues of art and society.

The 35 artists handle many different media, defending the basic idea that the artist reflects his personal view of the environment in which he lives. The diversity of the medium used by each artist reflects the techniques and details that are commonplace. The city of Athens as a landmark and its long history are associated with a variety of applied, raw materials. The list may include:
