Industrial production up 8.6 pct in November

Industrial production rose 8.6 pct in November with manufacturing production rising 6.8 pct in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday. The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that the industrial production index rose 8.6 pct in November compared with the same month in 2019, after a 9.6 pct decline recorded in the same months in 2019/2018. This development was attributed to increases of 2.0 pct in mining production, 6.8 pct in manufacturing production (tobacco up 18 pct, oil up 11.6 pct, chemicals up 16.1 pct, pharmaceuticals up 33.8 pct, base metals up 10.8 pct and electrical equipment up 17 pct). The electricity production index rose 18 pct and the water production index rose 1.7 pct. In the January-November period, the industrial production index fell 2.7 pct compared with the same period in 2019, while the seasonally-adjusted index rose 6.2 pct in November from October 2020.
