Giannis Moschos, director and playwright, became the new artistic director of the National Theater, following the open expression of interest procedure and after a relevant opinion of the Special Evaluation and Selection Committee, a procedure followed for the first time for the selection of the artistic director in the leading theater of the country.
According to the new institutional framework (par. 35 of No. 3 of N. 4795) / 1994 (Α '250), as amended by par. 1 of no. 62 of N. 201297525) / 2021 (Α '62))), the Special Committee for Evaluation and Selection communicated the final minutes to the political leadership of the Ministry of Culture with a reasoned and personalized suggestion regarding its judgment (“Final Cat Candidate Horse »), on the basis of which the candidacy of Giannis Moschos, qualified to fill the position of the new artistic director of the National Theater for a three-year term. The political leadership accepted the Commission's recommendation, evaluation and ranking.
It is recalled that the Special Evaluation and Selection Committee was set up by the following:
- Nikos Alivizatos, Emeritus Professor of the University of Athens (Chairman of the Committee)
- Marianna Kalbari, director, actress, Artistic Director of the Karolos Koun Art Theater
- Xenia Kalogeropoulou, actress, writer of children's plays
- Eva Manidaki, architect-engineer, set designer
- Reni Pittaki, actor
Mendoni: Giannis Moschos emerged through a completely transparent, democratic and meritocratic process

Who is Giannis Moschos
Giannis Moschos was born in Thessaloniki and is a Doctor of Theatrical Studies of the Department Theater of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as a graduate of the Department of Theater and the School of Pharmacy of the same university.
Has collaborated with the National Theater, the State Theater of Northern Greece, the Athens and Epidaurus Festival the Municipal Theater of Piraeus, the Theater of the South Amore, the Front, the Theater Porta, the Experimental Stage of the “Art” of Thessaloniki, the DIPETHE of Kavala etc. He has directed plays for the National Theater, the International Theater Institute, the French Institute and the Goethe-Institut. He has taught, among others, at the Theater Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, at the Higher School of Dramatic Art “Empros-Theater Workshop” and at the Higher School of Dramatic Art of the Municipality of Agia Varvara “Iakovos Kampanellis”. He has translated and adapted numerous works. The period 2001-2004 was the production manager at the Theater of the South (Amore) while at the time 2001 – 2021 collaborated in the Artistic Directorate of the same theater .
