“Thank you, dear Kyriakos, for this confidence in France and the flagship of its aeronautical [industry], in the Europe of common defense, which we are beginning to build,” noted Macron.

The French President  also retweeted an earlier post by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Motstakis which read:

“This is the next generation of aircraft, for a future vision of European Defence, and a new chapter in Greece’s regional capability. Thanks to my friend Emmanuel Macron for helping me strengthen our strategic partnership.”

Greece added 6 new Rafale fighters to its original order placed on 25 January 2021 for 18 Rafale which included 12 Rafale recently in service with the French Airforce and 6 new Rafale produced at the Dassault Aviation plant in France, bringing the total to 24 jets.

Greece was the first European country to buy the combat jets made by Dassault Aviation.
